A September to Remember

We have just wrapped up our annual SAFER September campaign and what an amazing month of activity it was! SAFER September is all about our student members promoting positive road safety messages in their school and community and holding important conversations to educate and empower their peers to make good decisions. In this blog post we have chosen a few schools to feature to show the wide range of activities that SADD students choose to do!

Orewa College ran an epic series of activities this September, including a quiz, ‘Be-seen’ day, visit from the NZ Police and the impairment bus, a focus or fail course and more!

Tuakau College ran the Plan B4 U Party snakes and ladders game

South Westland Area School ran a ‘Decorate your Door’ competition and distributed flyers to cars in the community during whitebaiting season after they recognised that this had a big effect on road safety in their community.

Stratford High School ran lots of activities including an obstacle course, car-themed lunchtime movies, chalk competition, scavenger hunt and pop up canteen

Fiordland College invited Police in to do a breathtesting activity and also ran the After Party interactive video for their peers

St Kevins College ran ‘What would you miss?’ activity using post-it notes on a car

Makoura College collected donations for the Wellington Free Ambulance service, complete with dance routines to attract attention :)

These are just a few of the many awesome activities that were run throughout September, we are so impressed and proud of the efforts of hundreds of young Kiwis across Aotearoa who took the lead on road safety education for their communities. Kua pai ou koutou mahi!
