Road Safety Week Launch 2026

As part of this year’s Road Safety Week, I attended the national launch of the 2026 Road Safety Week which was held in Wellington on the 4th of May.

At the beginning of the event, we were given time to connect with one and another, providing me with networking opportunities to people in other organisations that also care about road safety. I got to speak about my role in SADD as the Deputy Youth Board Representative and learn about other people’s roles in road safety.

We then heard from a range of organisations and stakeholders who talked about the ongoing importance of road safety messaging and the current realities facing road users across New Zealand. All of these speeches highlighted how important road safety week is and how much of a positive impact is has made and continues to make. The common theme in all these speeches was the importance of youth engagement in road safety advocacy, emphasising how crucial SADD’s role in this is.
