We’re ready for 2024 💪

Kia ora e te whānau! Welcome back to the Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD blog for 2024. We’ve had a fantastic summer and are gearing up for an incredible year of empowering young leaders, imparting vital road safety education and supporting hundreds of young people across Aotearoa to fulfill their potential through new skills, learning, activities and epic events!

In this blog we are going to provide a bit of inspo to get you in the zone and also introduce some of our key events and campaigns coming up this term. We’re ready - come along for the journey!

Get started for 2024! Here’s some tips to start you on the right track whether you’re a returning SADD leader or are ready to find out more.

1) Get in touch with us! Let us know you are keen and we will set you up. Our Delivery Team are primed and ready so flick your local Programme Delivery Lead an email to say “hey!” You can find all of our details here.

2) Check out the website! This is where you can find all the important info and inspo. Key pages to look at to get started are:

3) Get things going at school. If your school was active in 2023 then it’s a great idea to kick off with a meeting to reinvigorate your group and do a bit of brainstorming. Pop something in the notices or shoulder tap some new students to join you. If you’re new to SADD then get a few mates together, put the word out to see if anyone else wants to join and set a time to meet! Your Programme Delivery Lead can support you with this (see point 1).

4) Get along to a workshop! We are running start up workshops in as many regions as we can this term. Your PDL will be in touch with you about one close to you - make sure they have your contact deets so they can send you the deets (again see point 1)

Key events that you don’t want to miss:

1) Workshops - The best way to learn about all the opportunities on offer with SADD. Learn how to be involved in the programme, have a go at some activities, meet some new people, eat some snacks and hear about what you can gain from SADD this year. Workshops are great for students who are new to SADD as well as those who have been involved before - we make sure it suits you all. Check out www.sadd.org.nz/workshops for more details.

2) Conference - Think SADD camp vibes, 3 days of fun, skills development, team building, challenges, great kai, learning and leadership. Attending conference is THE BEST way to spend a few days in the April school holidays. We have 3 events this year - Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland. It’s going to be epic and you don’t want to miss out. All the key info is coming - make sure you’re on the list (again, see point 1)

So are you ready to join us? 2024 is going to be an epic journey. We can’t wait to share it with you!
