How to get to SADD Conference

Have you registered for Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD conference but not quite sure how you are going to get there? We’ve put together some options to help you out with your planning. If you find yourself a bit stuck or have any questions, please feel free to contact our friendly team for some guidance.

Each conference begins approximately 2.30pm and wraps up on the final day at midday. Please plan your travel accordingly so you don’t miss any of the event!

Dunedin conference is being held at John McGlashan College in the suburb of Maori Hill, Dunedin.

Travelling from the North (Christchurch and surrounding areas)?

InterCity runs a reliable service from Christchurch down to Dunedin, stopping in Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru and other key towns along the way.
The best option to book is the service departing Christchurch on Tuesday 7 April 2026, which arrives in Dunedin at 1.50pm. When you register for conference, you can select a pick-up option, and our team will meet you at the Dunedin bus stop and take you straight to the venue.

For your return trip, the recommended service is the 1.15pm departure from Dunedin on Thursday 9 April 2026. If you’d like a ride to the bus stop, simply select this during registration or let us know afterwards and we’ll add you to the list.

Travelling from the South?

If you’re coming from the lower South Island, InterCity also operates a route heading north into Dunedin, passing through towns such as Invercargill, Gore, Balclutha and Mosgiel.
Choose the service that arrives in Dunedin at 12.20pm on Tuesday 7 April 2026. When you register, you can opt for a pick-up, and our team will collect you from the stop and take you to the venue.

For your return journey, book the 2:30pm departure from Dunedin on Thursday 9 April 2026. We’ll make sure you get to the bus stop with plenty of time.

Flying is also an option for some students. If you would like to fly to Dunedin, we suggest booking flights on the 7th that land in Dunedin by 1.30pm and depart on the 9th after 2pm. Check out the options here www.airnewzealand.co.nz. We can provide transport from the airport to the venue and back to the airport at the end of the event so all you need to do is book your flights and let us know when you will be arriving, we will take care of you from there!

Cambridge Conference is being held at St Peter’s School, which is around 25 mins drive from Hamilton and 5 mins from the Cambridge town centre.

There are some Intercity Bus routes that will be a great option for getting to and from the event. There are a variety of different routes that pass through locations including Whangarei, Auckland, Taupo, Napier, Gisborne etc.

We recommend checking out www.intercity.co.nz and inputting your location to see what is on offer. Conference starts at 3pm (sign in from 2pm) on day 1 and finishes at 12pm on day 3, so ideally your transport option will get you to Cambridge before 2pm on the 22nd April and departs after 1pm on the 24th April.

We can provide transport from Cambridge town centre or from Hamilton, so if you can get yourself there, we can take care of the rest- just let us know. If the intercity route doesn’t get you to Cambridge at a good time from your town, try searching for Hamilton instead as this often opens up other options and we can pick you up from there.

Other options for getting to Cambridge include flying (the closest airport is Hamilton) or driving yourself/getting a ride with parents/teachers/friends. Check out the info below if you choose to drive yourself.

If you would like more guidance on what travel options to book then get in touch with us and we will happily provide some advice!

Planning to drive yourself?

If you have your full or restricted driver licence and will be driving yourself to conference, there will be places to park and signage set up to direct you where to go.

Please note if you do bring your own car, you won’t be permitted to use this during the event without prior permission. Please let us know when you arrive that you have driven yourself, register your car details with us and let us know where you have parked so we can help keep it safe for the time you are with us.
