Bridie’s story - classroom and school activities
No one ever thinks it’ll happen to them - until it does.
Bridie’s story shows how one wrong choice can have life-long consequences. These classroom and school-based activities give students a chance to explore how decisions affect themselves and others, practise speaking up, and build a culture of care in their own group. They’re interactive, practical, and designed to help your crew make smart choices before it’s too late
“The Choices That Change Lives” classroom activity uses Bridie Young’s story to show how one risky decision can have life-long consequences. Through watching her story, reflecting on real-life impacts, and discussing safe choices with peers, students explore how to make smarter decisions, look out for each other, and contribute to a safer youth driving culture.
This activity is designed for a classroom or group environment, facilitated by a teacher or SADD leader.
One Choice: Bridie's Story is a short assembly session that uses Bridie Young's story to show how one decision can change everything. After watching a shortened version of her story, students take part in simple whole-group activities that encourage them to reflect on risky situations, recognise the impact of their choices, and think about how they can help keep themselves and their friends safe.
This resource is designed for school assemblies and other large group presentations and can be facilitated by a teacher, SADD leader, or guest presenter.
