What is Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD?
We are a charity committed to reducing risk on New Zealand roads
We empower young people to make safer and better choices on the road. Check out this clip to understand more about us and what we do.
Jump in the car to do a burnout or call Mum? What would you choose? Make your own decisions and see the consequences in our interactive video, The After Party. This brand-new resource has been designed for rangatahi to view and interact with at school, in youth groups or at home with the whānau. The video features multiple points when viewers can click on decisions, leading to different scenarios unfolding.

Our Story
SADD/Kaitiaki o Ara exists to empower young Kiwis/rangatahi to prevent loss on our roads. We empower young road users, including drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, to make good decisions and develop personal strategies to be safe on our roads.
We care about the wellbeing of our communities, our programme supports youth to influence attitudes and behaviours and inspire their peers to make safer choices on our roads, helping to create a road safety culture.
SADD/Kaitiaki o Ara provides a diverse platform for collective youth voice that constantly adapts to provide tailored support and resources to groups across Aotearoa. Young people are the heart of the programme and are the key influencers of behaviour change for all road users.
