We entered 2021 hopeful we would be able to run our full programmes uninterrupted by lockdowns. Unfortunately, that was not to be! Like many organisations, we adapted and made new plans as we went along. Through all this, we moved on and continued to focus on our vision. I am so impressed by the resilience shown by our young people. The last 2 years have been so disruptive and have changed the way we live our lives. Our SADD rangatahi maintained their focus on raising awareness about road safety alongside adjusting to their new norm. They have recognised that road trauma continues to rise and that we as a nation must do all we can to prevent loss on our roads. We will continue to amplify the youth voice to be agents for change. As you will see in our 2021 highlights report, our SADD team and students have been busy helping to support our communities wellbeing through this pandemic and promote road safety despite lockdowns. We successfully ran events like our conferences, National Leaders course, activities in schools and kept working with our community partners to problem-solve local road safety issues. Thank you to the SADD team who work hard behind the scenes to support our rangatahi to lead activities in their communities, to our partners who support the SADD kaupapa, and to our funders who make it possible for us to build a road safety culture with our communities.
