What's new this month

It’s hard to believe we are a third of the way through the year already! Our team is fresh out of our annual conference season and ready for the Term 2 action!

In this edition of our newsletter, you will see a wrap-up of our conferences, hear about some upcoming events such as Road Safety Week and our leadership opportunities.

This is a great time of year to get some road safety activity happening in your school or community. We will also be getting some of the amazing work that students at our conferences produced ready for our website in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for some new activities that align with our 4 Aspirations!

Conference Wrap Up

We were so stoked to be able to run 3 conferences in the recent school holidays, for the first time since 2019!

Our team had a fantastic time and were totally amazed and humbled by the incredible students we got to work with and the mahi that they produced. Groups were challenged to come up with new resources that align with our Aspirations and/or fill gaps in our current activity suite. We are really excited that their hard work will soon be added to our website in the coming months for all students to benefit from - watch this space!

Leadership Programme Applications

Our leadership programme applications are now live, so spread the word!

National Leader and Regional Leader positions are open for Year 12s to apply for, and our Māori Advisory Rōpū is open for Year 9 - 13 students.

All three of these leadership streams are amazing opportunities for young people to grow their own leadership skills. Participants directly contribute to our organisation in a whole variety of ways.

A key part of our kaupapa is developing young leaders and their skills, whilst giving them a voice. This is an important part of how we do that. Head over to our website to learn more about the programmes and apply today!

Who is your Road Safety Hero?

This year’s Road Safety Week, 15-21 May, is on the same dates as the UN Global Road Safety Week. Use this week to celebrate anyone who is making our roads safer and shout out to people who really make a difference to you.

There are many ways you can get involved such as posting on social media, dress up in yellow or run an activity at your school. Find out more on our blog (below) and our dedicated webpage here.

We look forward to all your contributions to Road Safety Week! Thank you for being our heroes.

First we want to say a big thank-you to RM from Auckland, AG way down in Dunedin and EC all the way from Wellington for choosing to send donations to us.

Also, a big thanks to Otago Motor Club Trust who responded to students needs in the Otago region and contributed to Conference registration fees for students within their district.
