What's new this month

Tēnā koutou katoa!

And just like that we’re another month into 2024. Term 1 has been total madness at Kaitiaki o Ara. A good kind of madness?……maybe a great kind of goodness? Anyway…

In recent weeks, the delivery team travelled all over Aotearoa delivering Term 1 workshops. There must be something in the air because I’ve had a whole bunch of new schools reaching out this year too. Scroll down to see a selection of pics from our trips!

Term 1 is about laying a great foundation to build on for the year to come and I have to say from what I can see, I’m excited to see what comes from this year!!

2024 Conference is also a very hot topic for us, planning is well underway and the countdown is on with registrations closing next week and only 17 days till our first Conference in Dunedin, Ōtepoti. Cut off on regos is close so read on for more info.

In this edition we introduce you to Jordan (our new Deputy Youth Representative), TK from YOURS, teacher contact Gibz from Stratford High School and how Wellington College are getting involved in their community.

SADD on the road - Term 1 workshops

How good has Term 1 been?!

A huge thank you to all of the amazing rangatahi who have participated in our Term 1 workshop series. What a cool bunch of future leaders and world-changers!

This year we welcomed heaps of new schools to the programme through our workshops. We can’t wait to start working with you and see all of the amazing mahi you do with road safety this year!

We welcomed Jordan as the 2024 Deputy Youth Representative at the end of last year. She will work closely with Tayla and you can read what her aims are in her own words here

Wellington College immerse themselves in SADD

Year 13s Seth, Michael and Fergus from Wellington College have really made their mark.

Not satisfied with just collaborating with SADD, Wellington City Council and ACC for a scooter/moped safety programme, they have also put their hands up to jump on board with the Wellington AA District Council where they will provide a youth voice and perspective. It’s early days but they are getting their ducks in a row and planning for succession by involving year 12s as well.

Good work fellas! We’ll follow your progress closely.

This month is an important one for us as we gear up to support students attend one of our three April Conferences. We have provided support for those who need that little extra help in getting there.
