What are Activities
The Activities Programme!
SADD has been operating in New Zealand for over 21 years; over this time many students and members of the community have been involved doing a great job spreading safe driving messages. We want to make that easier for everyone involved!
For the first time SADD has produced a comprehensive programme for students to use in their schools and communities. The team at SADD have been hard at work producing activities that students can easily follow and adapt to suit themselves and their school. The idea is to take the hard work out of running SADD in high schools throughout the country. We often hear that the most difficult thing for students to come up with are new ideas and activities to run in the schools, and then when they do have a great idea what steps are needed to carry out the activity. We hope the new programme will help to alleviate these problems and SADD activity in schools will increase everywhere!
We will be regularly updating the programme and adding to the current activities, so keep an eye on the website so you don’t miss any great new activities.
Using the Activities Programme!
The new programme is split into 8 sections: Community, Alcohol, Leadership & Development, Road Safety, Peer Influence, Stats & Facts, Year 9 & 10 and Performance.
The concept has been devised so that if you are finding peer pressure is a major problem in your school you can go straight to that folder and find relevant activities. Some activities may even fit many more themes than the one folder they are listed under so it’s worth taking a look around!
We’ve designed all of the activities in the same format so once you understand how one works you shouldn’t have any problems following the many more to come! Each activity is set out on an Activity Sheet; once you understand a bit more about each section of the activity sheet you will be able to scan for relevant information for your school. You may be specifically interested in the objective, scanning through the summaries may suit you, or basing your choice of activity on the resources you have available. It can work so many ways!
Below is a brief explanation about each

Some activities also come with a resource sheet. This may have been added to give you an example of something not easily explained in the activity sheet; there may be scripts with some activities, or we simply had too much to tell you and needed more room!
There are links throughout the programme between folders and resource sheets as some of these are useful for more than just the activity or folder they were originally designed to fit.
The MOST important thing to remember is that these are designed so you can change them as much as you like to suit your school or community. SADD is still all about youth teaching youth, so make these activities your own and have fun spreading the word!
Good luck and let the SADD team know how you get on!
